Jubilee Party endorses Fred Matiang'i for 2027 Presidential bid

Jubilee party Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, has declared to support former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, for 2027 presidential race General Elections.

Speaking to residents at Nyamira County, Party Leader, Jeremiah Kioni said the party had gained a tremendous membership putting it in a better place to support Matiang’i’s presidency. "As the Jubilee Party, we have our own candidate, Fred Matiang’i. He will face off against the others to ensure Ruto goes home". The party which was formed by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on 8th September, 2016 has significantly influenced the country’s political landscape.

Mr. Matiang'i was known during Kenyatta's administration as CS Education and Interior where he implemented security and educational reforms in the country. However, Jubilee party has seen him with great leadership experience and popularity needed to compete with other leaders on upcoming elections. 

The SG noted that the party has over 2million registered members for the last two years since the Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) denied access of membership registration. “For the first time in about two years, we can access the list of our party membership and I am happy to state that Jubilee’s membership stands at 7,110,525 members,” he said.

Mr. Kioni also said that he has hope that all candidates who have shown there desire to vie for 2027 presidency will correlate to face Kenya Kwanza's President William Ruto. "We want a person who can put the country back on track within the shortest time possible, After having served in the cabinet for 10 years, Dr Matiang’i has the requisite experience to kick start stalled projects and revive programs like Edu-Afya, vision 2030 and also ensure stalled dams are done.” 

In his bid to capture the presidency in the next election, Matiang’i has already hired the services of Montreal-based Canadian lobbying firm Dickens & Madson to help him strategise for his 2027 presidential campaigns after making a down payment of $65,000 (Sh8.4 million) of the $250,000 (Sh32.5 million) which was required to jumpstart the process of lobbying for international support.

Lately, Kisii elders also confirmed and support to endorse Matiang'i for presidency, citing his leadership and development track record. The announcement has deeply sparked debates on social media and among political commentators, with some praising Matiang’i’s past performance in government roles.
