Why I will not resign from government - CS Muturi
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi's Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) has officially written a 30-day notice letter to Registrar of Political Parties to exit Kenya Kwanza Coalition party.
"Kindly take notice that our stay in Kenya Kwanza Coalition is no longer tenable due to the prevailing political differences. Democratic Party of Kenya, vide this letter, hereby gives a thirty (30) day notice to exit the Coalition as stipulated in the Termination Clause (8) in the Coalition Agreement, " reads the notice.
This was due to rumoured Cabinet reshuffle that President Ruto will conduct and thus CS Muturi feared to be affected. Since he was sworn in the office, he has been at the forfront to vow against abductions and extrajudicial killings of GenZs protests.
In an interview on Wednesday,13th at JK Live, Citizen TV, Muturi stands against Ruto's Administration for not tabling Youths abductions and explain why Kenya Kwanza has failed to protect people of Kenya.
Mr. Muturi had recently told by government officials to step down or resign from the office and says that resigning from a CS position is coward.
"The issue I raised on January 12 was an objection to abductions and extrajudicial killings which were happening in the country. In that statement, I did indicate that it is time that we as government debated on those issues because if left alone, they have the potential to drag this country into chaos and anarchy,” Muturi said.
“As far as I know, it is not the policy of the government to abduct or to have people killed. Speaking against that cannot be a ground for anybody to resign from office. Indeed, I think I should be congratulated for restating the government position, which is also informed by our own constitution which we all swore to protect, defend and uphold.”
"I feel that to resign because of raising the issue of abductions and extra-judicial killings would be a cowardly act on my part. I feel that the best is for me to state it while still serving as CS because it is not personal for me, " Muturi spoke.
CS Muturi further noted that if President Ruto reshuffles Cabinet or gets fired, then he is ready.
