Two KDF Officers Taken in Custody for Brutal Murder of UoN Student, Mercy Rufani


On Wednesday, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have successful arrested two Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officers for a brutal murder of a 26-year-old female student Mercy Rufani from University of Nairobi. 

According to the DCI report, the two suspects; Fred Mathenge Kanja and Joseph Ngera Kamau based in Embakasi are believed to be in contact with the girl before she died.

Previously on 28th September 2024, Mercy went missing from home in Pipeline Embakasi and later found dead in a thicket in Mwiki, near Kasarani. Her parents' effort to find their daughter failed until they reported the matter to police.

On that day at night, suspect Joseph Ngera picked Mercy from her home with Mazda KDL 796L and proceeded to his home in Komarock. At the parking lot, clashes started, and Joseph attacked Mercy ending to her death and then he called his colleague Kanja to help him dispose the body.

The two are detained at Kasarani Police Station to undergo arraignment process on Thursday.
