President Ruto Leaves for Burundi to Attend 23rd COMESA Summit
President William Ruto, on Thursday morning has left the country to attend the heads of state of COMESA and government in Bujumbura.According to State House Spokesperson, Hussein Mohamed; ''The President will engage in high level discussion aimed at bolstering Kenya's relationships with key strategic partners with a particular focus on strengthening regional value chains to deepen COMESA Intergrations,'' the statement reads.
This year's summit celebrates a 30th anniversary of COMESA themed: 'Accelerating Regional Integration through the Development of Regional Value Chains in Climent Resilient Agriculture, Mining and Tourism.'
At the meeting, president is expected to engage in bilateral talks to enhance strategic partnerships with other countries.
With a combined market of 640 million people and GDP of Sh.128Trillion, COMESA has provided a substantial market for Kenya.
President Ruto is also expected to meet Egypt and Zambia presidents and Prime Minister of Ethiopia among other leaders.
