NPS to promote 738 Officers after years of stagnation
National Police Service Commission on 13th March, 2025 released a press statement to the public regarding the promotion of Gazetted Officers after long years of stagnation.
The Commission on 10th March, 2025 held a meeting and received recommendations for promotion of police officers from Inspector General of Police.
The Commission further the extent to which the recommended Officers fulfill the requirements of promotion to various ranks and was satisfied that the criteria was met.
"Inspector General assured the commission that the process was competitive, transparent and hard considered regional, ethnicity and gender balance in arriving at the preferred candidates in accordance with Article 10 and 232 on National Values and Principal of Governance and Public Service, " reads the statement.
The promotion of seven hundred and thirty eight (738) Police Officers to be distributed in Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in various ranks.
The Commission Chairperson Eliud Kinuthia, in addition added 50 more civilian staff of NPS in various cadres were promoted.
The breakdown includes: 14 Officers, Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police (SAIG), 51 Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 135 Commissioner of Police (CP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and 261 Superintendent of Police (SP).
