State Clarifies the Sale of Bomas of Kenya
State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage, comes out clean after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua alleged the sale of Bomas of Kenya to Turkish national
According to the press statement released on 10th March, 2025 by principal secretary for Culture, the Arts and Heritage it has totally refutes the allegations made by Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday.
"I am therefore shocked by the allegations made by former Deputy President with regard with sale of Bomas of Kenya to a Turkish national. The State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage stands to categorically rufute this allegation. Bomas of Kenya has not been sold to anyone." The statement reads.
Since this allegations were made and spiked speculations to public, President William Ruto has announced to refurbish and upgrading the Bomas of Kenya to commence in two weeks time.
Press release statement"The development of the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) was approved by Cabinet on 8th August 2023 after a Cabinet Memorandum presented by the then Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, Hon Penina Malonza, EGH. The idea of refurbishing and upgrading Bomas of Kenya is not new and has been in consideration for the past 10 years. Nevertheless, it is current administration that has given impetus to it's actualization. The Bomas of Kenya has a valid title in it's name, issued in 1971. This title is in the government's custody. " The statement continue stated.
PS Ms. Bashir has affirmed and assured the public that Bomas of Kenya will remain a Government facility and it's ownership shall not change as it is held the trust on behalf of the people of the Republic of Kenya.
